Terms of Use
Last updated October 1, 2026
Vera is a free personal finance education app. By using it you agree to these terms. The most important one: Vera explains and calculates, but it does not give advice, and decisions about your money are yours.
Education, not advice
Vera provides general financial education and planning tools based on the numbers you enter. Vera isn't registered or licensed as an investment adviser, broker-dealer, tax preparer, or law firm in any country. Nothing in the app is investment, tax, legal, or accounting advice, or a recommendation to buy or sell any security.
For decisions about your situation, talk to a qualified professional where you live, such as a fee-only fiduciary financial planner, a CPA or chartered accountant, or an attorney.
AI-generated answers
Answers are written by an AI model (Anthropic's Claude) using Vera's calculators. They can be wrong or incomplete, and they depend on the numbers you enter and the assumptions shown with each answer. Check important figures before acting on them.
Vera's calculators and much of its guidance follow U.S. rules. Outside the United States, answers about local rules, such as taxes and retirement schemes, are general and may be out of date.
Who can use Vera
You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live if that's higher. You're responsible for following the laws that apply to you where you use Vera.
Your responsibilities
You're responsible for the numbers you enter and for your own financial decisions.
Don't use Vera for anything illegal, try to disrupt, overload, or reverse engineer the service, or send automated requests.
No accounts or money movement
Vera doesn't connect to financial accounts, hold money, or make transactions on your behalf.
Changes to the service
Vera is free. We may change, limit (for example, with a daily question limit), or discontinue features at any time.
Disclaimer and limitation of liability
Vera is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Vera and its developer aren't liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for losses from decisions you make using the app, and total liability for any claim is limited to $50.
Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the consumer protection laws of the country where you live.
Privacy
How Vera handles your information is described in the Privacy Policy.
Governing law and contact
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules, except where the law of the country you live in requires otherwise.
